Our Youth Theater Program is designed to pique the interest of area youth and cultivate their knowledge of the theatre. All roles are cast solely on talent, which mean auditions are necessary to be part of the show. Auditions are by appointment only and actors are given a specific monologue to rehearse when they sign up to audition. All youth are welcome to audition or participate, and parents and siblings are encouraged to help out with costumes and scenery!
Theater is comprised of many elements aside from acting. Local youth also serve as the backstage and technical crew for each show. Sound and Lighting Technicians as well as backstage crew and stage managers are always needed and are just as important as the actors. If you’re interested in helping behind the scenes contact the Youth Theater Director directly by calling 495-8989 or emailing email@example.com.
Auditions: Wednesday & Thursday, November 1 & 2, 2017; 5:00 - 7:15pm (Center for Performing Arts - Hinman Auditorium.) Open to actors 12+. For the audition all actors should be prepared to sing, dance and act. Come dressed to move and dance; actors will learn a short dance routine with a group taught by the Choreographer. Actors will also be grouped with other actors to read scenes from the script. No advance monologue preparation is required. Actors should prepare the following music selections to perform for the Music Director. After leading auditionees in their group music audition, the Music Director may use the remaining time to ask specific actors to sing another selection or ask if anyone has prepared anything they would like to showcase.

Join the CFABS Teen Players for Footloose. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
